WILLMAR -- Albany made its first nine 3-point attempts and roared to an 18-point lead at halftime as the Huskies upended Benson 84-72 in the third-place game of the Willmar Bremer Bank Holiday Classic Tuesday.
Albany (6-1) held on this time after blowing a double-digit lead in the first round Monday against Willmar. The Huskies, who shot 56 percent overall from the field, were 8-for-8 from three-point range in the first half with Scott Litchy making three, Kyle Lieser and Tony Harlander two apiece, and Tony Schoenberg one.
Litchy made another trey to open the second half en route to finishing with a team-high 22 points. Lieser followed with 14 points and Luke Evans netted another 13. Evans, Harlander and Stich also hooked seven rebounds apiece.
Benson (3-4) was sparked by Cody Jaeger's game-high 26 points. The senior guard was limited to seven points in the first half before erupting for 19 points in the second half.
The Braves also got a double-double from Sam Peterson with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and 11 points from Logan Connelly.
