Boys Basketball: Athmann hits 7 treys as BOLD gets first loop win

OLIVIA -- Kyle Athmann hit seven 3-pointers en route to a career-high 27 points to lead BOLD to an 82-59 West Central South Conference boys basketball win on Friday.

It was the first conference win of the season for the Warriors (1-5, 5-6). Athmann sank 7-of-10 three-point attempts.

Brandon Ochs added 18 points and Tyler Hebrink had 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.

Jordan Lieser scored 21 points to pace the Bulldogs. Dan Weidner contributed 13 points and Jason Kampsen had nine points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.

Fifteen players scored for Minnewaska, which bolted to a 39-13 halftime lead and never looked back.

Taylor Olson scored a game-high 20 points for Yellow.

Minnewaska shot 65 percent from the field (32-for-49). Brady Johnsrud led the Lakers (6-1, 6-3) with 15 points, five steals and four assists. Shane Bosek added 11 points and nine rbounds and Cory Holten had 10 points.

Montevideo 82, Benson 73

Montevideo and Benson combined for 93 points in a torrid second half before the Thunder Hawks eventually emerged the winner.

Montevideo placed five shooters in double figures, but game-high honors went to the Braves' Cody Jaeger who scored 25 of his 31 points in the second half. He hit four 3-pointers in his post-halftime splurge.

Montevideo (6-1, 7-4), which led 36-26 at halftime, won its fifth straight and stayed atop the standings.

Combining for seven treys, Brett Bergeson and Ryan Boike each tallied 18 points for the winners, followed by Colton Vien with 13, Jake Douglas 12 and Troy Hendrickson 10.

The Thunder Hawks made 10 of 20 treys.

Brennen Kent added 12 points for Benson and Jeff Berens and Keagan Pangrac 10 apiece.
