MELROSE -- Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa nearly hit the century mark again as the Jaguars outlasted Melrose 95-84 in a non-conference boys basketball game Tuesday.
BBE (2-0) opened its season by beating Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 107-22 on Saturday. Unlike their opener, the Jaguars got plenty of points at the free-throw line as BBE made 29-of-43 foul shots after Melrose (0-1) committed 26 fouls.
Kevin Kuefler led a group of five BBE players that scored in double figures with 24 points. Kirby Montbriand followed with 16 and Bennett Weller 13, while Brady Koehler and Connor Goodwin netted 12 more points apiece. Goodwin also hooked nine rebounds and Montbriand added four steals.
Scottie Stone knocked down six 3-pointers and Brandon Swoyer nailed four more treys to score 26 points each for Melrose.
