MINNEAPOLIS - Trailing at halftime for just the second time this magical season, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa boys basketball team rallied past Rushford-Peterson early Saturday afternoon in the Class A championship game, winning 52-40 at the Target Center.

The top-ranked Jaguars finish the season 31-1 and claim their second state title in three years. BBE also won the Class A title in 2012 after finishing second the previous year.

Rushford-Peterson held a slim 25-21 advantage at halftime before BBE outscored the Trojans 31-15 in the second half. Both teams shot just 38 percent from the field, but the Jaguars outscored Rushford-Peterson 15-7 at the free throw line.

Brian Goodwin scored a game-high 24 points for BBE with James Kuefler adding another 10. Goodwin also pulled in 10 rebounds, Kuefler 9 and Trey Heinsius and Billy Borgerding 7 more each.

See Monday's Tribune print edition for more on the game.
