MONTEVIDEO -- Aaron Lindahl netted 43 points behind five 3-pointers and Benson outlasted Montevideo down the stretch as the Braves knocked the Thunder Hawks out of a first-place tie in the West Central South Conference boys basketball race by collecting a 62-57 win Thursday.

Neither team had a substantial lead, but Benson (6-5, 9-9) did shoot a little better from the field than Montevideo (7-3, 13-4).

The Thunder Hawks led 56-55 with 2½ minutes remaining, but Lindahl answered a Montevideo three-pointer with one of his own to put Benson ahead for good at 58-56. The senior guard had 25 points in the second half.

Eric Brandon had 12 points and Ryan Boike 10 to pace a balanced attack for the Thunder Hawks.
