Boys Basketball: Brandon scores 45; Monte trips ACGC in 2 overtimes: LQPV at Paynesville

GROVE CITY -- Eric Brandon poured in 45 points and Montevideo outlasted Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in double overtime 85-80 on Tuesday, allowing the Thunder Hawks to stay in the lead with Morris in the West Central South.

The game was tied 64-all at the end of regulation and 74-74 at the first overtime.

ACGC was running out of players by then -- five of their top six fouled out -- and the Thunder Hawks went on an 11-6 run to end it.

Brandon, a 6-1 guard who scored 29 points Saturday in a 69-67 win over New London-Spicer, had eight points in the final overtime, including 6 of 8 at the line.

He finished with 13 field goals (one a three-pointer) and cashed 18 of 25 at the line.

In supporting roles, Ryan Boike finished with 15 points, Jeff Jerve 13 plus 13 rebounds and Brett Bergeson with nine points.

Jordan Tanner led five Falcons in double figures with 22 points.
