Boys Basketball: Dragons move on in 5AA playoffs

ST. MICHAEL -- Owen Boerema scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Litchfield advanced in Section 5AA with a 77-50 win over Watertown-Mayer on Saturday.

ST. MICHAEL - Owen Boerema scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Litchfield advanced in Section 5AA with a 77-50 win over Watertown-Mayer on Saturday.

Litchfield plays next against Minneapolis North in the 5AA semifinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday in St. Michael.

The Dragons' Alex Gruenke scored 15 points and had four assists and Tyson Michels finished with eight points and four assists.

Willmar lost its lead in the final minute of the third period but rebounded in overtime and defeated New Ulm on Brandon Holt's tally to end the NA3HL season in style on Sunday at the Willmar Civic Center.

Holt scored on assists from goalie Lucas Ehrlich and Chase VanDeVere.

The WarHawks' Marquez Ginger scored two goals and Cameron Knowlton also scored.

Willmar's AJ Martinelli had two assists, and Andrew Pitlick and Sam Voss also had helpers. Ehrlich stopped 36 of 39 shots.
