Boys Basketball: LQPV earns first WC South victory of season

BENSON -- Lac qui Parle Valley came back from a 10-point deficit to beat Benson 64-57 in a West Central South Conference boys basketball game Monday.

BENSON -- Lac qui Parle Valley came back from a 10-point deficit to beat Benson 64-57 in a West Central South Conference boys basketball game Monday.

The Eagles (1-3, 3-4) started the new year trailing the Braves (1-1, 3-5) 16-6 early in the first half, but went on a 24-8 run into halftime to take the lead. LQPV never gave it up in the second half.

Eric Paulson led the surge with 23 points for the Eagles, including 15 in the second half. Zach Moen added 10 points and six rebounds, and Blake Hoium turned in 10 points.

Sam Peterson's 21 points and 14 rebounds paced Benson. Cody Jaeger followed with 13 points and Carter Fennell had 12. Logan Connelly grabbed eight boards.
