Boys basketball: Montevideo gets conference win at Minnewaska

GLENWOOD -- Troy Diggins scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to power Montevideo to a 61-53 West Central Conference victory over Minnewaska on Friday.

Three other Thunderhawks’ scored in double figures. Riley Emery scored 13, Travis Dreyer 12, and Jimmy Haff 11. Minnewaska led at halftime by three, but couldn’t muster enough second half offense to pick up the home win.
The Lakers attempted just two free throws in the game.
Riley Thompson scored 18 points and Matt McIver recorded 13 points in the loss.
Montevideo challenges BOLD on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., while Minnewaska hosts Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Sauk Centre increased its winning streak to 12 with a win over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, which came into the game with a 17-4 record.
Matthew Moritz scored a game-high 24 points, and Carter Kranz and Cole Neubert each scored 10.
Neubert pulled down seven rebounds and Moritz had four assists, while Austin Nelson scored seven points and picked up seven rebounds.
The Mainstreeters (19-4) will next play Tuesday at Staples-Motley.

Dalton Asplin scored 15 points and Matthew Johnson had 14 for the home team.
