Boys Basketball: Morris thumps LQPV to maintain South lead

MORRIS -- Four players scored in double figures for Morris as the Tigers won their sixth straight game Friday, upending Lac qui Parle Valley 73-39 to maintain an one-game lead in the West Central South Conference boys basketball standings.

Lincoln Arnold paced the Tigers (10-2, 14-3) with 20 points while Jackson Henrich had 15, Chris Scott 12 and Cory Hennen 10. The Tigers shot 54 percent from the field and outrebounded the Eagles 45-19. Henrich led all rebounders by grabbing 12 boards.

Eric Paulson had 13 points and Baxter DuFrane tossed in 10 more for the Eagles (4-8, 6-12).

Brennan Kent hit a baseline jumper with 2.8 seconds left to give Benson the win.

Kent's basket came after Minnewaska's Shane Bosek tied the game at 51-51 on a layup with 15 seconds remaining.

Aaron Lindahl had 17 points for the Braves (7-5, 10-9)

Benson made 6-of-11 three-pointers. Kent finished with 11 points and four steals. Dan Martin had 10 points.

Eric Brandon was 13-for-16 at the free-throw line and finished with 25 points to help Montevideo (8-3, 14-4) win for just the second time in its last five games. The win also allowed the Thunder Hawks to remain one game behind Morris in the race for the conference title.
