Boys basketball roundup: ACGC beats Tigers late

MORRIS -- Brody Larson converted a three-point play with 10 seconds left to propel Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City past Morris/Chokio-Alberta 63-62 Thursday in a West Central Conference game.

The Falcons (2-0, 4-1) trailed 31-28 at halftime before outlasting the Tigers (0-2, 1-2) in a back-and-forth second half. Noah Grove had a game-winning three-point attempt from the corner rim out as time expired.
Alex Hendricks canned four 3-pointers en route to netting a team-high 21 points for ACGC. Gabe Eisenbacher followed with 10 points and Adam Johnson pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds. Larson finished with seven points, but the senior handed out nine assists.
Eric Staebler’s double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, Jacob Zosel’s 13 points and Sean Amundson’s 12 points led the Tigers.

The Bulldogs notched their first win of the season behind a Matt Quade double-double in a non-conference game.
Quade scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Paynesville (1-3).
Toby Flannigan and Alex Kranz each scored 10 points, and Mitchell Weidner had nine.
Weidner added two assists, and Quade picked up two assists and three steals.
Paynesville next plays Yellow Medicine East today at home.
