WILLMAR - Sparked by Carter Asche’s game-high totals of 33 points, 23 rebounds and seven blocks, MACCRAY outdueled New London-Spicer from the three-point line Friday afternoon to post an 85-75 win in the first game of the Bremer Bank Holiday Classic hosted by the Willmar Cardinals.

Asche canned four 3-pointers and also made four shots from inside the arc to net 20 points in a 45-point first half for MACCRAY. The 12-point advantage at halftime held up in the second half for the Wolverines as NLS was never able to make it a one-possession game.

Tyler Moffenbier had half of MACCRAY’s 10 treys en route to scoring 19 points and Jackson Grussing chipped in 21 points. Moffenbier also hooked seven rebounds and Grussing dished out five assists.

Shane Zylstra, playing on a sore ankle, supplied NLS with 23 points - sparked by five 3-pointers - six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Devin Fostervold followed with 22 points and also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

MACCRAY (4-4) plays its final game of the two-day tournament against Sauk Centre (6-3) Saturday at 6 p.m. with NLS (3-5) capping the eight-team tourney at 8 p.m. against Willmar.

Montevideo could never get its offense going and lost to Marshall 64-30 on Friday at the Marshall Fast Break Classic.

The Thunder Hawks play Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at 6 p.m. Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State.

Travis Dreyer led the T-Hawks with seven points and Troy Diggins finished with six points.

Marshall improved to 10-0 while Montevideo fell to 3-3.
