WILLMAR - Kobe Ahonen tossed in a game-high 19 points, and Michael Russell added 15 points as Brainerd overpowered Willmar on Tuesday 69-48 in a Central Lakes Conference game.
The Warriors were nine of 16 from three-point range in the win.
A nine-point halftime deficit for the Cardinals became ever greater as Brainerd would keep up the momentum.
“They are just a really athletic team, and they turned up the defensive pressure,” Willmar head coach Steve Grove said. “They did a good job on Noah Slagter, recording his lowest point total in two months I’d say.”
Both Tate Hovland and Max Doering scored 10 points for the Cardinals.
Willmar will have its final regular season contest on Friday at home at 7:30 p.m. against Sartell-St. Stephen.
