Boys basketball roundup: EVW upends Wildcats

EDEN VALLEY -- The New London-Spicer boys basketball team couldn't solve the inside-outside combination of Bret Mattice and Jared Streit and fell to Eden Valley-Watkins 53-46 in a non-conference game on Thursday.

EDEN VALLEY - The New London-Spicer boys basketball team couldn’t solve the inside-outside combination of Bret Mattice and Jared Streit and fell to Eden Valley-Watkins 53-46 in a non-conference game on Thursday.
Mattice hit three 3-pointers and finished with 25 points and Streit, a stout 6-foot-6 post player, scored 14 points and had a game-high 13 rebounds to lead the Eagles.
NLS trailed by just one point at halftime but could never overtake the Eagles down the stretch.
Derrick Laudenbach and Shane Zylstra both scored 11 points and Laudenbach also had five rebounds for NLS. Devin Fostervold scored nine points and Ethan Bohlsen led the Wildcats with seven boards.
The Wildcats play host to Minnewaska on Saturday in New London.

The Lakers’ Matt McIver led the offense with 13 points, four assists and sunk three 3-pointers.
Austin VerSteeg added 10 points, and Riley Thompson had eight points and six rebounds.
