GROVE CITY - Colton Minnick hit a go-ahead shot with 32 seconds to play, securing a 71-69, comeback win over Kimball in boys basketball Thursday.

The Falcons, who trailed by seven at the half, clinched the win on the final possession, when Payton Kinzler secured a steal before Kimball could get a shot off.

Gabriel Eisenbacher led ACGC with 25 points Minnick had 19 points and a game-high five assists.

The duo did enough to counteract a great scoring effort by Kimball’s Del Guerrero, who finished with 31 points.

Winners of five straight, the 11-12 Falcons travel to face 15-11 Morris Saturday at the Class AA Section 3 tournament.

Wabasso out scored KMS 32-20 in the second half on Thursday to secure a spot against Section 3A-North top seed Central Minnesota Christian School.

Wabasso’s Beau Taylor went for a game-high 25 points.

KMS’ Brandon Rasmussen scored 11 points, Weston Gjerde had 10 points and six assists, and Tanner Rohner had five points, four assists and two steals.

The Saints finished the season 2-25.

Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart failed to get a win this season as the Mustangs were beaten in the first round of the section tournament Thursday.

The Irish outlasted the Jaguars in a defensive struggle, led by 15 points and nine rebounds by Chase Olson.

Austin Trustheim provided 14 points in the losing effort for BBE, and Derek Weiner grabbed six rebounds to go with 13 points.

This is the sixth loss in a row for the Jaguars.

With the score deadlocked at 21 at half, they only managed to repeat that total in the second half while Maple Lake scored 24.

BBE will play an opponenent that has yet to be announced on Thursday in the first round of the Section 6A tournament.

A lockdown defensive effort by Melrose turned a close halftime game into a blowout.

Trailing by just a point at the break, the Lakers were out-scored 31-12 in the second half, where just three players scored.

Jake Peters led the Lakers with nine points.

Minnewaska finishes the regular season 17-8. The Lakers host 10-15 Benson in the opening round of the Class AA Section 3 tournament Saturday at 7 p.m.

Noah Kannegiesser scored 30 points and Hancock’s defense dominated the first half in a 16-point win over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.

Chandler Gramm aided Kannegiesser’s strong scoring effort on the defensive end, finishing the game with 10 blocks. He also had a team-high five rebounds and five assists.

The 16-6 Owls will host Brandon/Evansville in Class A, Section 6 action at 7 p.m. next Thursday.
