MONTEVIDEO - Behind six 3-pointers and 25 points from Matthew Moritz, Sauk Centre extended its winning streak to nine Friday after drilling Montevideo 71-53 in a West Central Conference game.
The win also avenged a 20-point loss to Montevideo earlier in the season. Since then the Mainstreeters (12-2, 16-4) have gone 13-2.
Cole Neubert nearly added a double-double for Sauk Centre as the senior center piled up 17 points and nine rebounds. Shariff Silas chipped in 13 points.
Montevideo (7-5, 11-9) was paced by Riley Emery with 13 points, Troy Diggins with 12 points and six rebounds, and Travis Dreyer with seven rebounds.
Sauk Centre hosts Melrose - unbeaten in the conference - on Tuesday while Montevideo also plays Tuesday, at home against Morris/Chokio-Alberta.
