MANKATO — The Willmar boys basketball team saw its season end in the Section 2AAA-North final Tuesday night.
The fifth-seeded Cardinals fell at No. 1 Mankato West, 61-36.
Mankato West (15-4) plays for the 2AAA championship on Friday in Mankato. The Scarlets play the winner of Tuesday’s other 2AAA semifinal between No. 3 Marshall and No. 7 Worthington.
Willmar fell behind 7-0 early. West built a double-digit lead to 16-6. The Cards (7-13) cut the deficit to 16-10, but that’s as close as they would get.
Willmar struggled offensively, shooting 33.3% (14 of 42) from the field, including 20% (3 of 15) from 3-point range.

For West, Buom Jock, a 6-foot-5 junior forward, had 18 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Jock was 3-for-5 from 3-point range.
Also for the Scarlets, Mehki Collins, also a 6-5 junior forward, had 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Mason Ellwein,a 6-0 junior guard, had 15 points.
For Willmar, Jacob Rosendahl led with 11 points. He also had five rebounds. He was the only Cardinal in double figures.

Four players scored in double figures to help host Morris/Chokio-Alberta beat Redwood Valley for the Section 3AA-North championship.
Morris/CA is the top seed. Redwood Valley is the No. 2 seed.
Jackson Loge led the Tigers with 21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Thomas Tiernan had 16 points, Brandon Jergenson 13 and Toby Gonnerman 11 for Morris/CA.
Morris/CA plays Pipestone winner at 7 p.m. Friday at Montevideo.
Pipestone, 3AA-South’s No. 2 seed, beat No. 4 Windom, 49-45. Windom knocked off top-seeded Luverne 63-56 in the 3AA-South semifinals.
