NEW LONDON -- Erik Tengwall recorded the 1,000th point of his career and had his second-straight game of 25-or-more points as New London-Spicer swamped Mora 79-57 in West Central North boys basketball Friday.
Needing 10 points to reach the milestone, Tengwall made a free throw with 8:50 left in the first half to reach 1,000. The game was stopped and he received a plaque. He finished 10-for-14 from field and 8-for-11 at free-throw line and had 30 points overall and now has 1,020 career points. He pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double. Tengwall scored 27 points in the Wildcats' win Tuesday at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle.
Tengwall becomes the 10th boys player from New London-Spicer to reach the milestone.
Justin Zylstra also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards for the Wildcats. Aaron Jenny followed with 12 points.
The Wildcats (4-0, 10-1) travel to unbeaten Albany Tuesday.

Cody Jaeger exploded for 14 of his game-high 23 points in the second half to lead the Braves. Carter Fennell added 13 points, including seven free throws in the second half, Brennan Kent followed with 11 points and Derek Hilleren had 10.
