FERGUS FALLS - David Gomez scored six goals and the Willmar Cardinals roughed up a struggling Fergus Falls team 10-0 on Tuesday in a Central Lakes Conference game.
Gomez had a hat trick by the 28th minute, scoring the Cardinals’ first three goals.
Jesus Nevarez also scored at 28 minutes, just seconds seperating his goal from Gomez’.
Gomez scored three more in the second half, as did Mohamed Aden, Ricardo Contreras on a free kick and David Aguilar on a penalty kick.
“Gomez was the one who put the ball in the net, but the team played great,” Willmar head coach Jeff Winter said. “We had the ball on their end 90 percent of the time.”
The Otters had just one shot on goal, saved by Willmar goalie Manny Obregon.
The Cardinals (5-2-1, 9-3-1) next play Thursday at St. Cloud Apollo.
