Boys Soccer: Cardinals shut out Rocori 9-0

WILLMAR - The Willmar boys soccer team had a big first half and really poured it on in the second for a 9-0 Central Lakes Conference win over Rocori on Saturday at Kennedy Field.
The Cardinals’ Marcos Nino scored twice and assisted on another goal and Jesus Nevarez had a goal and two assists.
Nick McLouth, David Aguilar, Oscar Rivera, David Gomez, Kunil Ismail and Charlie Hopman also scored goals for Willmar.
The Cardinals outshot the Spartans 25-2.
“It took us a little while to get into the flow of the game since we started many players who have not started this season,” said Willmar head coach Jeff Winter, whose team led 4-0 at halftime. “They were able to find a flow after about 10 minutes and began taking control of the match. It is really great that we have such a strong team that, really, anyone can play from the start.”
The Cardinals travel to Sartell for another CLC match at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Willmar then hosts Sauk Rapids on Thursday at 5 p.m. and Mankato West next Saturday at 3 p.m.
