WILLMAR - St. Cloud Tech got a goal with less than two minutes left in overtime to defeat the Willmar Cardinals 2-1 in a Central Lakes Conference game on a breezy Tuesday evening.
Kyle Mueller scored on a second chance after Willmar keeper Manny Obregon had stretched out to stop a hard shot from 15 feet in front by Jakob Alessio. Mueller, near the post, one-timed the rebound from a few feet out.
Willmar forced overtime in the last minute on a penalty kick by Marcos Nino. The Cardinals kept the ball in the Tech end much of the overtime but put only one weak shot on goal. The best chance to score came on a free kick but no one made contact with the well-placed the crossing shot.
