SARTELL -- Willmar scored first, but Sartell overtook the Cardinals 2-1 in a Central Lakes Conference boys soccer game on Tuesday.
After scoring seven goals in a win at St. Cloud Apollo Sept. 1, the Cardinals have scored only two times in the last 160 minutes. But one was enough in Thursday's 1-0 win over Little Falls.
Abshir Ahmed put Willmar up 1-0 in the 33rd minute. A free kick by Josh Wright got through the defense and Ahmed snapped a shot from 12 yards that beat Sabre goalie Skylar Gardner.
Sartell (3-1, 4-1) took the lead in the next five minutes on goals from Todd Speaks and Josh Rostad.
One Willmar kick got behind Gardner but it was saved by a defenseman. Willmar keeper Josh Freitas had six saves.
