Boys soccer: Willmar to open state against Northfield

The Willmar boys soccer team received the No. 4 seed in the Class A state tournament, and will open play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday against Northfield at St. Cloud State.

The Willmar boys soccer team received the No. 4 seed in the Class A state tournament, and will open play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday against Northfield at St. Cloud State.

Coming out of the Big 9 Conference, the 14-3-3 Raiders earned a spot in the field with a 1-0 win over Austin in the Section 1 championship game. They've allowed just one goal in four postseason games thus far.

This is the second state tournament appearance for Willmar, which also qualified in 2008.
