Boys Swimming and Diving: Willmar's Bockelman wins Sauk Rapids Invitational
Cardinal junior scores 369.60 on 11 dives to win championship Saturday.
SAUK RAPIDS — Willmar’s Kale Bockelman took first place in the Sauk Rapids Invitational diving meet.
Bockelman scored 369.60 in his first 11-dive meet of the season, beating second-place Cameron Wagoner from Hutchinson.
“Based on his scores from last year, that was a definite improvement,” Willmar head coach Carl Shuldes said.
The invitational was for divers only. Shuldes said that Bockelman has increased the degree of difficulty on his dives this year and it is paying off.
“He’s stronger,” Shuldes said. “He’s just real confident in the dives he’s doing. The dives he’s doing are relatively difficult dives. This is the second year he’s been doing them.”
Wilmar is host to Alexandria at 6 p.m. Thursday in a Central Lakes Conference meet.
