MINNEAPOLIS - Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd freshman Jess Hansen advanced to the consolation semifinals of the Class A individual state tournament in singles Thursday at Reed-Sweatt Family Center.
Hansen was dropped in the consolation bracket after losing 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round to semifinalist Logan Engelstad of Thief River Falls. Hansen then received a forfeit after Myles Tang of Breck suffered an injury.
Hansen meets Lars Scannell of Cook County today at 8 a.m. with the winner advancing to the consolation final that is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.
Montevideo’s Ryan Maroney was ousted from the tourney Thursday after losing 6-1, 6-0 to Paul McCallie of New Life Academy and 6-0, 6-3 to Ty Misialek of East Grand Forks.
