ST. CLOUD - Fergus Falls swept singles and took the 1-doubles point to knock off Willmar 5-2 in a Central Lakes Conference match to determine second-place in the conference on Friday.
The Otters finish 8-1 and Willmar 8-2 in league matches. St. Cloud Tech finished unbeaten, capturing it sixth straight championship.
The Cardinals picked up points at 2- and 3-doubles.
“Tom Kersetter and Nick Revier really played well, controlling the net and holding serve,” said Willmar coach Jim Anderson of his No. 2 pair. “Alex Reynolds and Alec Bateman are two of the most improved players on the roster. They played their best match. They dropped the first set but fought for every point and battled back.”
Reynolds/Bateman prevailed 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at 3-doubles.

Willmar overpowered winless St. Cloud Apollo/Sauk Rapids losing only 10 games total.
The team’s 8-2 CLC record is the best since the 2003 team finished 10-2 in league matches.
Willmar (11-3) seeds Sunday for post-season with the first-round on Tuesday.
