Boys Tennis: Pedersen, Litch and NLS doubles teams reach 6A semifinals

ST. JOSEPH - Litchfield’s Jared Pedersen moved into the Section 6A boys tennis tournament semifinals and doubles teams from Litchfield and New London-Spicer also earned semifinals berths on Thursday at the College of St. Benedict.
The Dragons’ top-seeded doubles team of Josh Prahl and Ben Haugo will meet the No. 4-seed team of Adam Ritschie and Mitch Wruck of Foley on Tuesday at CSB.
No. 3-seed doubles team Eli Nelson and Josh Proehl of NLS play No. 2-seed Logan Scott and Jordan Ziwicki of Foley on Tuesday.
Pedersen, a No. 6 seed, will play No. 2-seed Nathan Stracke from St. Cloud Cathedral on Tuesday.
Foley’s Zach Kantor, the top seed, and Pine City’s No. 4-seed John Blake meet in the other semifinal.
Pedersen defeated NLS’ Jonah Nelson 6-1, 6-1 in the first round on Thursday, then defeated Cathedrals’ Alec Ferris, the No. 3 seed, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4).
Litchfield’s Trevor Meyer and NLS’ Noah Martens both won their first-round matches before losing in the quarterfinals.
The Dragons’ Prahl and Haugo had a first-round bye and then defeated Pine City’s Jared Kotek and Jonah Bergstrom 6-5, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
NLS’ Nelson and Proehl defeated Mora’s Max Krueger and Isaac Balmer 6-1, 6-0 in the first round, and the pair then downed Pine City’s Aaron Brown and Brandt Berube 6-3, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
Litchfield’s team of Matt Wedin and Jordan Green won their first-round match before losing in the quarterfinals.
