Boys Tennis: Strong play in singles not enough for Willmar

WILLMAR -- Alexandria swept doubles to overcome Willmar's advantage at singles and register a 4-3 Central Lakes Conference win in boys tennis on Saturday at the sun-splashed high school courts.

WILLMAR - Alexandria swept doubles to overcome Willmar’s advantage at singles and register a 4-3 Central Lakes Conference win in boys tennis on Saturday at the sun-splashed high school courts.
The visiting Cardinals lost only nine games while ruling the pairs competition in straight sets.
Preston Peterson, Drew Corneil and Isaac Yoakum took points at 1-2-3 singles, respectively, for the home-town Cardinals.
Willmar (1-2) maintains its frantic pace since its season debut on Thursday: home today against a ranked Fergus Falls team, at Alexandria on Tuesday, home vs. powerhouse St. Cloud Tech on Wednesday and a twin bill on Thursday at St. Cloud Apollo and at Sartell.
