FERGUS FALLS - Willmar's girls hockey team found themselves down 3-0 after the first period but battled back to earn a 5-5 tie with Fergus Falls Friday night.

Annika Ohman got the Otters on the board first followed by a pair of goals from Sophie Rauch to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

Riley Schneider and the Cardinals showed signs of life in the second period, though, with a pair of goals just six seconds apart from the captain to put the game at 3-2. The Otters tacked one on before the end of the period, though, to make it 4-2.

Schneider responded in the third with another pair of goals to tie the game at four and Hannah Kobienia helped the Cardinals take the lead with a goal at the 8:33 mark. Rauch, however, recorded the third part of her hat trick with 2:57 to play to tie the game at five apiece. Both teams were held scoreless in overtime to earn the draw.

The Cardinals will play again on Tuesday against Marshall in Willmar.
