Cards girls soccer gearing up for playoffs with 3-1 victory

Willmar tops Rocori and closes regular season Friday at Cold Spring

WILLMAR — It’s almost playoff time for girls soccer and the Willmar Cardinals are feeling like they are right where they want to be.

Willmar beat visiting Rocori 3-1 in a Central Lakes Conference match, getting two goals from senior captain Madi Linbo. It was Linbo’s first two-goal game of the season.

Willmar (5-8-2) concludes the regular season at 5 p.m. Friday at Rocori in a rescheduled match.

“Home and away is rare for high school soccer,” Willmar head coach Amanda Broman said. “I don’t think it matters too much.

“It’s actually nice for us, because we’re getting some kids back who have been out.”

Kylie Gibson is back in the lineup after missing time with a sprained MCL. Ella Swenson also returned in goal after being out because of illness.

Broman said the Cardinals will learn of their seed in Section 6A on Sunday. She expects Willmar to be on the road Tuesday..
