Carlson, Reigstad reach career milestones

FERGUS FALLS -- Clay Carlson won his 125th career match and Brady Reigstad notched his 100th career victory as the Willmar wrestling team won a pair of matches at the Fergus Falls Triangular on Thursday.

FERGUS FALLS - Clay Carlson won his 125th career match and Brady Reigstad notched his 100th career victory as the Willmar wrestling team won a pair of matches at the Fergus Falls Triangular on Thursday.

The Cardinals defeated Moorhead 45-25 and blanked Fergus Falls 81-0 on six pins and seven forfeits.

Against Moorhead, Jack Roehl (106), Israel Navarro (120), Clay Carlson (138) and Lincoln Shinn (160) won their matches by fall.

Jonas Anez (113) and Cael Carlson (132) earned technical falls, Josh Miley and Brady Reigstad won by major decision and Ethan Roux (145) won a decision in overtime.

The Cardinals are 6-0 in the Central Lakes Conference, they are 5-0 against section opponents and 11-2 overall.

Willmar plays host to Alexandria at 7 p.m. Thursday at Willmar High School.

River Lakes played an efficient brand of hockey Thursday night as they dismantled Willmar in Paynesville.

The Cardinals outshot the Stars 39-22 on the night but River Lakes was able to convert on seven of those 22 shots to outpace Willmar.

Cameron Lemke didn't score a goal but he made an impact with four assists for the Stars.

Nordic Ski

Ethan Haines was Willmar's leading skiier for the fifth-place Cardinals at Thursday's Central Lakes Conference Championship. He finished in 30:19 for the Cardinals, just ahead of teammate Andrew Haugen who finished in 31:52.

Willmar's Marquis Christenson and Daniel Halvorson finished within seconds of each other at 33:05 and 33:51 respectively.

Brainerd's Maxim Osborn led the pack with 25:31, just a second ahead of teammate Evan Schreifels.

On the girls side, Laura Christianson led the four Cardinal competitors with a 33:30 finishing time. Marina Moyers finished about a minute later at 34:33.

St. Cloud Tech's Kaethe Schroeder was the first place finisher at 29:40. Teammate Gabby Hennes took second in 30:01.
