Class A State Dance Meet Roundup

MINNEAPOLIS - Four area schools competed in the Class A State Girls Dance Team Tournament last weekend.

The Jazz Division competition was Friday and the High Kick Division was Saturday at Target Center. Twelve teams competed in each division with the top six teams making it to the finals.

Yellow Medicine East of Granite Falls competed in both divisions. Renville County West competed in the Jazz Division while Montevideo and BOLD competed in the High Kick Division.

Jazz Division

Two-time defending champions YME took third place. Marshall School of Duluth won the contest with Aitkin in second place. RCW placed sixth place.

Each of the six teams placing in the class named two dancers for the honor to the All-Tournament team. Representing YME were Cassie Thielen and Chole Stubblefield, and representing RCW were Courtney Lindahl and Libby Groen.

High Kick Division

YME took second place while Aitkin successfully defended their 2014 title. Crosby-Ironton finished third and was followed by Montevideo in fourth, BOLD in fifth and PACT Charter School of Ramsey in sixth.

Each of the six teams that placed named two dancers to the All-Tournament team. Representing BOLD were McKenzie Anderson and McKaia Ryberg, while Kayla Knudson and Anna Melby represented Montevideo, and Laura Butterbrodt and Sidney Knapper represented YME.
