WILLMAR - The Ridgewater baseball teams was officially eliminated from playoff contention after losing two to Central Lakes on Sunday.

Ridgewater lost 6-0 and 4-1.

The Warriors finished 2-8 in the MCAC Southern Division. They were scheduled to play two against Anoka-Ramsey today but the games were cancelled.

The Warriors managed just five hits in the two games on Sunday.

“Our pitching was just fantastic but we just haven’t been hitting the ball,” said Warriors head coach Denny Boe, noting that the team had been shutout in three of its last four games and scored just five runs in its last six games.

“When that’s happening, something’s wrong,” Boe said. “I wish we could take our pitching into the (MCAC) tournament but when you’re hitting like that, it’s a really tall order.”

WILLMAR - Ridgewater freshman Onas Fanfan pitched a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts but the fielding failed to keep up committing six errors, as the Warriors fell to Rochester 4-1 on Saturday. Four alone in the fifth inning gifted the Yellowjackets a three-run inning.

The Warriors got one back in the lower half on Brandon Roelike’s RBI double; in the sixth, the Warriors filled the sacks with none out but did not score facing TJ Nowak, who threw a complete-game four-hitter.

Once again, the Warriors got a crackerjack pitching performance at wind-lashed Baker Field Saturday afternoon, but this time failed to hit.

Freshman right-hander Brandon Bornhorst gave up three doubles but no other hits and just one walk and a hit batter but sustained his first lost after two division wins.

Brandon Roelike went 3-for-3 and Jarrod Holmgren and Riley Carpenter each had a single but Bryce Carpenter collared the Warriors otherwise.
