ROCHESTER - The Ridgewater baseball team’s season came to an end in heart-breaking fashion over the weekend when the Warriors dropped two to Rochester in the MCAC South playoffs.
The Yellowjackets won 7-0 on Friday, then edged the Warriors 3-1 on Saturday, scoring two runs in the seventh inning thanks to hits that barely left the infield grass.
“I would have hoped for a better season for these guys,” said head coach Dennis Boe of the 7-22 Warriors. “But it is what it is. We opened with 14 games against tough competition and didn’t get a win, and then we ended the season playing 10 games in five days. It just caught up to us.”
On Saturday, the teams were tied 1-1 into the seventh. Rochester, playing as the visiting team, put two runners on with two outs. They moved up on a passed ball and scored on Taylor Christopher’s soft bouncer to right field.
The Warriors got two hits in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t push any runs across, making a hard-luck loser out of Onas Farfan, who worked all seven innings and struck out 12.

In Friday’s first game, Yellowjackets starter Connor Robley made life tough on the Warriors, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out eight.
Gideon Burnham had both Warriors hits.
