WILLMAR - Nathan Thooft has been selected as Ridgewater College's new men's basketball head coach.
Thooft was a Ridgewater assistant basketball coach the last two years under former head coach Darren Tighe, who was named Mayville State head coach earlier this month.
Kevin Bronner, a long-time Minnesota youth coach and official, joins the Ridgewater staff as an assistant coach.
Before joining the coaching staff at Ridgewater, Thooft served on the Marshall prep boys basketball staff. He was head 7th grade boys coach for two years, while also scouting games, helping with varsity practice and youth camps.
Thooft attended North Dakota State University and competed in track and cross country for two years. He also was on the NDSU men's basketball staff as a student assistant. Thooft's responsibilities included travel planning, helping with individual workouts, coordinating athlete schedules and organizing practices.

At NDSU, Thooft was a part of a program that won more than 20 games, participated in the CBI Tournament and worked with five 1,000 point scorers.
Thooft graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Sport and Recreation Leadership and Minor in Business Administration. He and wife Hannah currently live in Marshall.
Bronner currently lives in Kandiyohi with wife Deb and son Christian.
