FERGUS FALLS - Heather Horning lost a tough decision in Game One but came on in relief to pick up the victory in Game Two as the Ridgewater softball team split an MCAC doubleheader Tuesday.
The Warriors fell 2-1 in the first game but recovered for an 8-5 win in the second game that gives them a 7-5 record in the MCAC Southern Division and a 17-8 overall mark.
The Warriors play a division doubleheader at Rochester beginning at 3 p.m. Friday.
In the first game, Fergus’ Brett Brockpahler allowed the Warriors just a third-inning run for pick up the win. The Warriors Kenzie Long drove in her team’s only run.
Horning allowed just three hits and struck out six.

In the second game, the Warriors got its offense going against Brockpahler, breaking open a one-run game with a four-run sixth inning.
Erica Melbie was 4-for-4 and drove in two runs and Horning was 3-for-4. Brooke Wuertz had a two-run double and Long had two hits and an RBI.
Horning relieved Tasha Dallmann and got the win.
