WAITE PARK - Ridgewater College continues its bid for spot in the Region 13A softball tournament today at 2 p.m. playing Riverland at River’s Edge Park.
The Warriors split their first two games of the MCAC Southern Division playdown on Friday. Brittany Nissen’s near no-hitter gave the team from Willmar a 2-0 win over M State.
But in the second game the Warriors fumbled the ball six times opening the door to a 7-6 victory for the St. Cloud Cyclones.
Three of the six teams will advance to the region event next Thursday and Friday that will be hosted by the champion of this tournament.
Ridgewater must win its first game today to avoid elimination.

Nissen held the Spartans hitless through 6X\c innings when Tanis Lura singled sharply through the middle. Nissen walked 1 and struck out 3, a third Spartan reached on an error.
Nissen, in the second, and Jenna Kincade, in the fifth, slugged RBI singles off Kristine Moenkedick, who gave up only one other hit.

The game was tied 4-4 when the Cyclones took advantage of two Warriors errors to plate three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Ridge came back with two runs in the top of the seventh. Jenna Kincade and Kari Shipman each singled and came home on a ground out by Jess Kalenberg and a sac fly by Brielle Hauge but Spartan pitcher Sabrina Zimmel hung on for the last out.
Kalenberg suffered the loss on a six hitter; only 1 St. Cloud run was earned.
