WILLMAR - The Ridgewater volleyball team posted three wins in four matches in the Ridgewater Classic on Friday and Saturday.
The Warriors defeated the Jamestown JV twice and nicked the Waldorf JV once, losing only to Iowa Lakes.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with our efforts this weekend,” said Ridgewater head coach Joe Sussenguth. “Our team constructed a foundation of how well we can compete when we have a complete investment in all areas of the game.”
Despite losing to Iowa Lakes, ranked No. 12 in NJCAA Division III, Sussenguth said the Warriors played well in stretches.
“We just gave up two long runs in sets one and three,” he said. “Otherwise, we competed very well.”
Hailey Leiding led the Warriors with 33 kills in the four matches, and she also had 17 blocks.
Natalie Feldhake had 31 kills, 14 blocks and four ace serves, and Brenna Olsen had 22 kills.
Baylie Kubesh had 19 kills, served nine aces, blocked 10 shots and had 38 digs.
Kaitlyn Sterner served six aces and had 127 set assists.
“Individually and as a team, there was definite growth, even from Friday’s matches to Saturday’s,” Sussenguth said. “The goal now is to work hard to build off of our successes this weekend.”
