AUSTIN - Ridgewater took care of business Wednesday by sweeping Riverland 25-15 25-18 25-15 in a MCAC Southern Division match.
The No. 3-ranked Warriors improved to 8-1 in the division and 13-6. The South’s second-place team now plays bottom dweller Western Wisconsin Tech (0-8, 2-12) today at La Crosse, Wis., at 6:30 p.m.
Hailey Osland and Brenna Olsen had seven kills each to pace a balanced attack for the Warriors. Jen Puncochar and Tracy Braaten followed with five apiece as nine players notched a kill for Ridgewater.
Puncochar also served up a team-high four aces, while Kaitlyn Sterner had 19 assists and Mikayla Jacobson eight digs.
“It was great to start off our road trip with a divisional win,” said Ridgewater coach Joe Sussenguth. “We made too many unforced errors, though, which I hope we can clean up by tomorrow’s match.”

Following today’s match in La Crosse, Ridgewater will head south to Rockford, Ill., to play in the two-day Kiswaukee Tournament starting Friday. The Warriors’ next home match is next Wednesday against Minnesota West.
