WILLMAR - Ridgewater swept Minnesota West in straight sets to get a key divisional win on Wednesday.
“Our strengths and weaknesses within this match tipped the scale strong enough for us to get a divisional win.” said Ridgewater head coach Joe Sussenguth.
The Warriors, now 18-7 overall, play Riverland Community College on Saturday in the final home game of the season. With the 10th conference win, Ridgewater inched closer to the lead in MCAC division play.
Jen Puncochar led Ridgewater with six aces. Kaitlyn Sterner was able to add 25 set assists and three aces. Even though the Warriors were able to sweep, this was not a perfect match in the eyes of the coach.
“Even when we aren’t as invested as I’d like us to be we can still get a three set win. Hopefully, we recognize our shortcomings and are able to give more to each other next time we are on the floor,” said Sussenguth.
With the loss, Minnesota West fell to 6-4 in conference play.
