WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater College Open Tournament for freshmen and sophomore wrestlers drew 135 competitors to the college gym on Saturday.
Wrestlers came from as far away as Minot State, Concordia-Nebraska, Briar Cliff University (Iowa), as well as wrestling powers Augsburg and North Dakota State.
Four Warriors reached the finals, each finishing as the runner-up in their weight class: Lonny Booshu at 125 pounds, Yoni Debreab at 133, Klinton Van Heuveln at 149 and Trevor Mahlum at 174. Mariano Portillo placed third in the Gold Division of 141, which was the most congested weight class.
Also at 174, Ridgewater's Tyrell Martin lost his first match but then won four straight on two technical falls, a pin and by a decision in the fifth-place match.
