After winning two decisions Thursday, University of Minnesota redshirt senior Kevin Steinhaus - a 2009 Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg graduate - went 2-1 in the 184-pound division at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on Friday in Oklahoma City.

Unfortunately for Steinhaus, his only loss Friday came in the quarterfinals to longtime rival Ed Ruth of Penn State, dropping the Pennock native into the consolation bracket. Steinhaus (42-9) bounced back by earning a 6-5 decision and a 6-2 decision to ensure getting All-America status (top eight finish).

Steinhaus, who entered the tourney a two-time All-American, will take on Jack Dechow of Old Dominion in the consolation semifinals Saturday with the winner advancing to the third-place match. The loser will wrestle for fifth place.
