MOORHEAD -- The Ridgewater wrestling team had six wrestlers place in the Maroon division and had five competing in the tough Gold division against some of the region's top athletes in the Finn Grinaker Open at Concordia College over the weekend.
The open four NCAA Division I and five NCAA Division II programs, including a St. Cloud State team that might be one of the top teams in Division II. Other competitors of the 240 wrestling in the open came from the University of Minnesota, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State and South Dakota State, said Warriors head coach Tom Beyer.
Of the 15 schools represented, Ridgewater was the lone junior college team.
Lonny Booshu was 1-2 in the 125 pound Gold division, losing to the U of M's Tony Morrow in overtime in the consolation round.
Javior Portillo was 1-2 in the 133 pound Gold division, and Mariano Portillo was 2-2 wrestling in the 141 pound Gold division.

Coty Milhausen dropped two matches in the 165 pound Gold division, which was combined with the Maroon division because of a lack of wrestlers in the meet.
At 285 pounds in the Gold division, Derek Carlson was 1-2, with his win coming against the U of M's Alex Daughtery.
Other Warriors who placed included: Klinton Van Heuelin (third place in the 141 Maroon division); Shane Fessenmaier (third in the 149 Maroon); Zach Peterson (fifth in the 157 Maroon division); Trevor Mahlum (fifth in the 174 Maroon division); Kevin Hahn (sixth in the 184 Maroon division); and Charlie Gelhaye (third in the 285 Maroon division). The Maroon division featured freshmen and sophomore wrestlers.
