WILLMAR — The second-ranked Riverland Community College men’s basketball team used a strong second half to get the 80-62 victory over Ridgewater College on Saturday.
Up by three at halftime, the Blue Devils, based in Austin, outscored the Warriors 39-24 after the break.
Riverland’s Lajarrion Spinks led all scorers with 25 points, followed by 10 points from Malik Cooper. Eleven players scored for the Blue Devils.
Pacing Ridgewater was DJ Brown with 21 points and five assists. Menelik Garrick chipped in with 10 points while Jaylyn Clardy had 11 points, seven rebounds and a pair of steals off the bench.
The Warriors face Minnesota West at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Worthington.

Despite trailing 20-10 after the first quarter, Riverland climbed its way back to get the road victory over Ridgewater in Willmar.
Imani Colon led the way for the Blue Devils with 24 points and seven assists. Camryn McQuery had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cayli Miles (14) and Savannah Longhoma (13) also finished in double figures.
Josie Knutson had a team-high 24 points along with 10 rebounds for the Warriors. Ashley Prahl also had a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Harley Kunstleben added 15 points, and Abby Berskow chipped in with 12 points, seven assists and two steals.
Ridgewater is back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday in Willmar against MInnesota State Community & Technical College of Fergus Falls.
