College basketball roundup: Rochester runs past Ridgewater, 89-76

Yellowjackets shoot 55.7% from the field to beat Warriors' men

ROCHESTER — The Ridgewater men’s basketball team dropped its 11th game of the season in a 89-76 loss against Rochester Community and Technical College on Saturday.

RCTC utilized a 43-30 halftime lead to pace the Yellowjackets to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference victory. Peyton Dunham had a game-best 27 points and Quest McCrimon added 24.

The Yellowjackets shot 55.7% from the field and made 46.2% of their shots from beyond the arc. Forty-eight of RCTC’s points came in the paint.

Malik Westerfield led Ridgewater in scoring. He notched 23 points on nine of 17 shooting from the field.

Westerfield, a sophomore guard, has scored at least 20 points in six games this season.

Ridgewater plays St. Cloud Technical and Community College at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Whitney Recreation Center in St. Cloud.

Rochester Community & Technical College cruised to the home victory, improving its record to 16-0.

Rochester is ranked No 1 in NJCAA Division III.

Myia Ruzek led the Yellowjackets with 28 points. She was one of six Rochester players in double figures.

Gabby Randt, a freshman from MACCRAY, led Ridgewater with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Mallery Geistfeld added 11 points for the Warriors.
