CAMBRIDGE — The Ridgewater softball team was reminded Wednesday why Anoka-Ramsey is one of the best teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

The Warriors lost 21-1 and 22-1 to the Golden Rams in a MCAC doubleheader. Both games were called after eight innings because of the eight-run rule.

Anoka-Ramsey is ranked ninth in the nation in NJCAA Division III.

“They’re a solid ball team,” Ridgewater head coach Datri Jensen said.

With the victories, Anoka-Ramsey improves to 13-3 in the MCAC South and 27-12 overall. Ridgewater fell to 1-16 in the South Division and 3-20 overall.

In Game 1, Hailey Babcock, Lyla Galli and Marissa Kerry all homered for the Golden Rams.

Angie Weller doubled and Zola Olson tripled for the Warriors.

In Game 2, Sunny Strait slugged a three-run homer and Galli homered again for Anoka-Ramsey. The Warriors managed five hits, getting knocks from Jessica Headlee, Weller, Zola Olson and Zoey Salvador.

Ridgewater has a doubleheader against nationally ranked St. Cloud Technical & Community College at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at River’s Edge Park in Waite Park. The Cyclones are 31-3 and ranked eighth nationally.

Ridgewater then wraps up the season with a home doubleheader against Minnesota West Community & Technical College of Worthington, beginning at 3 p.m. Friday.

“I know it sounds cliche, but I just really want them (the Warriors) to have fun,” Jensens aid. “For some of them, this will be the last games ever. We just want to hit the ball and field the ball as well as we can and have fun.”
