WILLMAR — The Ridgewater softball team closed the 2022 season by losing a doubleheader to Minnesota West on Friday.

The Lady Jays beat Ridgewater 14-2 in five innings and 14-3 in six innings in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference games.

Datri Jensen lamented a couple of umpiring calls in the second game, but was excited about getting contributions from two Ridgewater basketball players who had not been on the team all season.

Ashley Prahl and Abby Berskow, both Willmar graduates, both played Friday. Prahl pitched in both games.

“Angie (Weller, the Warriors’ starting pitcher) was so thrilled to get a break,” Jensen said.

Ridgewater finishes the season 3-22. Minnesota West, located in Worthington, is 12-10 and has a doubleheader with St. Cloud Technical & Community College on Saturday.

“We’ve got a good core of this group returning,” Jensen said about next season. “I am working on some recruiting. This was a rebuilding year for me. Next year, I’m hoping to roll these girls over and build on our base.”
