GRANITE FALLS - With the help of freshman Kurt TeBeest winning and having three other runners place in the top 10, the Montevideo boys made it a three-peat at the West Central Conference Championships Wednesday at Granite Run Golf Course.
The Benson/KMS girls also had four finish in the top 10 en route to claiming the team title. Bethany Rosemeier was a close second to champion Claire Sulflow of runner-up Montevideo, Jessica Goff sixth, Libby Peters ninth and Leah Tessem 10th. Emily Tostenson finished 15th for the Braves, who also had Hannah Weber (16th) and Serenity Driscoll (18th) place in the top 20.
With TeBeest’s win and Zaccary Enevoldsen placing fourth, Joe Varpness fifth, Tristan Weber eighth and Njaal Gustavsen 12th, the Thunder Hawks accumulated 30 points to easily outdistance runner-up Benson/KMS. Morris Area was just one point behind the Braves for third with BOLD coming in fourth, Yellow Medicine East fifth and Sauk Centre sixth.
Jacob Carroll finished second for the second straight year for YME while Aaron Goulet of Morris Area improved on last year’s fourth-place showing by finishing third. TeBeest was 10th last year as an eighth-grader.
In the girls race, Promise Butler of Paynesville was third, Savannah Aanerud of Morris Area fifth and Jessica Senkyr of BOLD seventh.

Alaysia Freetly was first and teammate Sadie Thompson came in third to help the Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd girls win the team title at the conference championships Wednesday at the Canby Golf Club.
Ben Burgett raced to another individual win for the Community Christian boys, who finished third behind Canby/Minneota/Lincoln HI and runner-up LQPV/DB. Keiser Freetly finished fifth for LQPV/DB.
Kelly Kvaal was sixth, Grace Hegland ninth and Jordyn Sterud 10th for LQPV/DB, which edged the hosts by only one point.
