ST. CLOUD - The Willmar girls didn’t have any trouble winning their fourth straight Central Lakes Conference team title on Tuesday at the Territory Golf Club.
The Cardinal boys nearly made it a clean sweep for top team honors as senior Nadir Yusuf (16:08) and junior Mohamed Noor (16:24.7) were the top two finishers and senior Ian Thompson came in fourth. But Rocori put four in the top 10 to edge Willmar 47-49 for first place.
The Cardinal girls notched another win in a banner season as they had the next five fastest times after Alexandria twins Bethany and Megan Hasz finished 1-2.
Willmar actually placed seven runners in the top 10 but only the top five times count in the team scoring. Junior Jessa Hanson was third, freshman Heidi Schmitz fourth, junior Kayla Rudie fifth, freshman Serena Monson sixth, junior Sophie Schmitz seventh, freshman Leah Hansen ninth and junior Savannah Anez 10th.
Bethany Hasz ran a blistering 17:48, nearly 70 seconds faster the Hanson’s time of 18:57.

Willmar won’t run competitively again until the Section 8AA meet on Oct. 29 the Vintage Golf Course in Otsego. The Cardinal girls are the two-time defending section champion.
