WILLMAR-Tanner Dahle scored a hat trick as Willmar's boys hockey team held off Prairie Center for a 6-5 win Thursday night at the Willmar Civic Center.
The Cardinals got the fireworks going first with a goal from Dahle just 5:37 into the game and Devin Turrubiates made it 2-0 minutes later. Prairie Center got on the board with 30 seconds to spare, though, thanks to a goal from Hunter Fletcher.
Dahle got rolling again in the second with a goal 41 seconds into the period before Prairie Center's Peter Erhart scored a pair to knot the game at three.
It was Willmar's night, though, as Eli Slagter took the lead 51 seconds into the third period and Dahle followed up with his third of the night eight minutes later.
Slagter added a shorthanded goal a minute and a half after Dahle's third goal to put the game at 6-3.

Erhart earned his hat trick, though and Fletcher made things interesting with only two minutes remaining, scoring his second of the night. The Cardinals held strong, though, and wrapped the game with a 6-5 scoreline.
"We made things interesting there at the end but we'll take it however we can get it," said Willmar head coach Jamie Hagen.
Willmar will take on Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato for the Creamed Can at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Willmar Civic Center.
